History

Vulcan Towing was started in 1991 by Willie Creech and then passed on to his son Justin in 2004 when he purchased the business. Vulcan was started as a family business and continues that tradition to this day. Our employees are more than just that, those who work at Vulcan are an extension of our family and we’re so proud to work with all of them.

Founding of Vulcan Towing & Recovery - 1991

Of course, the big moment of our story was in 1991 when Vulcan was first created by my father Willie Creech. He had a vision of creating a professional service with clean drivers and nice equipment. Not the normal towing stereotype of a hillbilly spitting chew out the window in a rusty tow truck.

Transfer of Ownership - 2004

Our next biggest moment was when I (Justin Creech) purchased the business in 2004. Much like my father, I also had the same vision but on a much larger scale. I dreamed of creating a family-oriented business where the employees felt like we were all family. I wanted to create a large business with a lot of employees that we could all be proud to call our own.

First Rotator Purchase - 2017

By 2017 we had grown enough to purchase our first Rotator which was a HUGE step forward. That single purchase kicked us into the heavy recovery sector full force and ever since our heavy division has been growing exponentially.

Today, our heavy division now employees four full-time drivers, one part-time driver, and is continuing to grow to this day.

Vulcan Moves To Current Location - 2019

Two years later in November 2019, we moved into our new facility. This location has given us the opportunity to further expand our business by hiring mechanics to maintain our large fleet of vehicles in-house. Not only that, but we also have room to house upwards of 500 vehicles in our impound lot that now has a state-of-the-art security system and 24/7 staffing that monitors the impound lot to keep vehicles secure.

Family Matters - 2019

Another big moment for Vulcan was when I (Justin Creech) met my now wife, Jessica Creech in April 2019. She has been instrumental in redefining our business and has helped to bring us into the digital age which means no more paper invoices! She also has taken over the General Manager position and now runs the entire office. From billing to office personnel, she does it all. And as they say around the shop “Don’t mess with Jess!”

Vulcan of Today - 2021 & beyond

Today we are now living out the dream my father and I had in the beginning. From where we started in 2004 with five trucks and four drivers, myself, and a dispatcher, we have grown lots. In the last 17 years, we had to overcome many obstacles. At one point we were on the edge of potential bankruptcy and now we hold the record for being the largest towing company to ever exist in Alaska. Today we employ between 35 and 40 people, have 28 pieces of equipment, and respond to more than 30,000 calls per year.
